Nature Reserves
We carefully manage several areas of natural green space to maintain and enhance the various habitats for the maximum enjoyment of local residents. More information about Great Aycliffe Nature Sites can be found in the Wild about Aycliffe leaflet.
The Authority carefully attempts to balance the needs of local residents with that of the local wildlife.
The Town’s green spaces are maintained with the assistance of the Authority’s staff and various community groups. The Council’s Works section undertakes routine tasks such as litter collection, winter tree maintenance and summer scrub clearance in these areas.
Various other external organisations regularly assist in the maintenance of these sites.
