D-Day 80th Anniversary

Great Aycliffe Town Council took part in the national commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of D- Day on Thursday 6th June 2024. People gathered on the Oak Leaf sports pitch to watch Cllr Jo Jones Deputy Mayor light the beacon at 9.15pm, the crowd listened to a member of the Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band play several pieces of music on the pipes. 

After the beacon was lit the piper played Amazing Graze D Day 80 – Piper
